An Independent Evaluation of the Norfolk and Suffolk Construction Academy Brokerage Service 2005
The Construction Academy Brokerage Service registers people wishing to work in the construction industry, or who wish to train to work (enter or re-enter) in the industry, and employers seeking to employ staff. In the case of job brokerage, the academy passes on contact details to either the employer or the potential employees as appropriate. People seeking training are referred to the appropriate Training Provider(s).
This evaluation of the Norfolk and Suffolk Construction Academy Brokerage Service was commissioned by the initial lead partner, Norwich City College. Semi-structured, face to face and telephone interviews, plus e-mail questionnaires followed by telephone interviews were used to collect data. The researcher was in contact with project staff throughout the study, examined project files and attended steering group meetings. The sample was small but purposive and included beneficiaries, the project staff, employers, training providers and representatives from support agencies with an interest in the construction industry, training and/or placing people in work.
