The concept of the project was developed in response to the LSCs invitation for bids to run Local Initiative Funded (LIF) projects. CCN proposed the concept of a project based on Parents as Educators course run in Southport college which was also developed later by the Open College Network for the North West. CCN proposed running courses in Science and Maths at Level 1 and 2 . The methods used to obtain primary data were essentially qualitative and aimed to explore the perceptions and experiences of a 'purposive' sample of the project team, outside voluntary and statutory organisations, first schools and students on the development of the project and plans for the furure. Secondary data was collected through a literature review and analysis of project-related documentation.
