To develop the Hotel School employer-mentoring programme and concept of industry pay-back 2005
The aim of the project was to use action research to develop the mentorship scheme in the Hotel School, City College Norwich and establish criteria for it's sustainability based on identified objectives. The research identified that there is a clear need for establishing a common understanding of goals and the provision of a formal structure in which activities involving industry/college staff and learners can be evaluated and improved upon for the future benefit of all involved. An intende doutcome of the project was the development of a structured , identification of the criteria that will initially be used in the evaluation of 'pay-back' in the employer-mentoring programmes. At the end of the research it was clear that this approach to mentorship and formal evaluation will also pave the way collaboration and integration with Schools programmes which employers and colleges and funding councils consider to be so important.
