Beacons for Public Engagement

The National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement is at the heart of a major new initiative to make universities more welcoming and accessible, and to deepen the social impact and relevance of their work. the Beacons for Public Engagement project is one of the biggest initiatives ever launched to support public enagagement throughout the UK. Funded by the UK Higher Education Funding councils, Research councils (RCUK) and the Wellcome Trust, it has a simple goal: achieving a more joined up and strategic approach to public engagement.

CUE East is the Eastern region Beacon for Public Engagement, one of six nationwide, led by the University of East Anglia (UEA) and is a four year funded project to promote awareness, understanding and promotion of public engagement. The project is running from January 2008 to December 2011 The Research Centre, City College Norwich has been appointed as the independant evaluator for this project.
