Update from the Beacons Project

The CUE East Beacon for Public Engagement programme is now into its second year, following the good progress made in establishing the project and commencing delivery in year one. A major achievement in the last few months has been the first Norwich and Norfolk Sustainable Living Festival (NNSLF), held at The Forum, from 22nd May to 31st May. The festival evaluation, which was carried out by The Research Centre, concluded that NNSLF 09 had been a success, delivering on the vast majority of its stated objectives.

Looking forward, CUE East has an ambitious list of activities to deliver, with a redeveloped website (www.cueeast.org), the announcement of a second-round of CUE East Funds for October 2009 (open to collaborative bids from the UEA and community contributors), and the launch of an Engagement Tracker, which will help staff and students at UEA to record their public engagement activities. The Research Centre will be working alongside CUE East throughout to ensure that programme successes and key lessons learnt are captured and shared.
