Research Workshops - Dates and venues

On behalf of the Higher Education Academy, Angus Carpenter (Research Centre Manager, City College Norwich) and Becky Turner (HELP CETL, University of Plymouth) have organised three, one-day events to support practitioners to engage with scholarly activity and research, and provide managers with information and systems that they may need to manage scholarly activity / research within an FEC.  These events will address the following key aspects:

i)                     The meaning of scholarly activity and research;
ii)                   The key aspects of the research process including research design/dissemination;
iii)                  Making funding applications;
iv)                  Managing a research project;
v)                    Key resources to support their engagement with scholarly activity;
vi)                  Considerations for, and the management of scholarly activity and research in an FEC;
vii)                 Institutional impacts from scholarly activity and research.

The first event will be held at Stockport College 4th December 2009, with two further events planned for 25th March 2010 at HEA’s Engineering subject centre and on the 11th June 2010 at City of Bristol College.

The event is a must for both practitioners (early stage or experienced) and Directors / managers of HE and/or research. Spaces for each of these events are limited to 40, so we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment.
