Higher Education Academy Research Workshop
The importance and need for research and scholarly activity as integral factors within FE colleges’ planning and management of HE is constantly highlighted as an area for improvement.
The recent introductions of IQER, FDAP, HE strategies and IfL CPD commitments has lead to a much greater emphasis being placed upon staff to engage with research / scholarly activity. To assist colleges in developing their support for these activities, the Higher Education Academy’s HE in FE Enhancement Programme has organised three one-day events, designed with both a practitioner and manager focus, to provide them with the knowledge, examples, resources and confidence to engage and/or manage these activities. Workshops and presentations will be delivered in parallel for both practitioners and managers to increase their awareness, knowledge and practice of:
- The meaning of scholarly activity / research;
- The key aspects if the research process, including research design and dissemination;
- Making funding applications;
- Managing a research project;
- Considerations for, and the management of, scholarly activity / research in an FEC;
- Institutional impacts from scholarly activity / research in an FEC.
